It’s a goal… make that 6 times!
Yesterday Monday 17th June 2013, the Nigerian football team won their first match against Tahiti at the on going 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The African champions won against the
pacific islanders 6 to 1. The match started on a pretty good note, even
after a tumultuous trip to Brazil for the team. 25 year old Nigerian
defender Uwa Echejile scored the first goal at the 5th
minute during the first match. He later scored another at the 80th
minute during the second half.
But 22 year old striker Nnamdi Oduamadi was the star of the night scoring 3 goals at the 10th, 26th and 76th minutes. Jonathan Tehau also scored at the 69th minute.
If you recall, BellaNaija brought you photos of the team training at the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Click HERE for the photos.

Training for Victory! Photos & Video of the Super Eagles Training at the Adidas Headquarters in Germany
Posted on Thursday, June 13th, 2013 at 1:35 PM By Damilare AikiTalk about training for victory!
To prepare for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup kicking off on Saturday 15th June 2013 in Brazil, the Nigerian football team were invited to train rigorously at the headquarters of sportswear brand Adidas in Herzogenaurach, Germany
In February 2013, the Super Eagles were crowned Africa’s ultimate team when they beat Burkina Faso 1-0 (One to Nil) in the AFCON final in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In order to help keep the team’s positive momentum going and assist in giving the team every advantage available to perform at their peak in Brazil, Adidas (the long time partner of the team) invited them to train at their high performance headquarters with access to their top facilities.
Check out more photos and a video from the training
Super Eagles of Nigeria Through to the Quarter Finals at AFCON 2013
After the first two disappointing matches at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in South Africa, the Super Eagles of Nigeria today won the match against Ethiopia to clinch a spot in the Quarter Finals.
Two late penalties from Chelsea striker, Victor Moses
put Nigeria into the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over the Ethiopian
side. In another game in Group C, Burkina Faso played a goalless draw
against the defending champions, Zambia. This made Zambia crash out of
the tournament as Nigeria and Burkina Faso moved on to the quarter
finals.
Nigeria needed nothing but a win to
advance to the next stage and they got just that. The match put a lot of
people in jublilation mood across the country.
What about you? Are you happy with the
outcome of the match against Ethiopia? What are your expectations from
the team as they proceed to the next stage in the tournament?
Win a Copy of the “City of Lagos” Monopoly! It’s Just 5 Correct Answers Away
Lagos based firm – Bestman Games, recently launched the City of Lagos edition of famous board game Monopoly. The launch couldn’t have come at a better time and the choice of Lagos to grace the world famous Monopoly board game only underscores its unique status as Africa’s most vibrant metropolis.
For starters, Lagos is the first African
city to have its own edition of monopoly and it turned out to be a
great product, everyone is having fun with it, from Lagos to Abuja,
London, Atlanta, and even Cape Town. We love it too.
The game gives you an opportunity to
tour Lagos and buy the hottest travel spaces and utilities – classic
Monopoly game style. You can even invest in properties like houses and
hotels on Banana Island – your friends might get jealous. It captures
the essence of Lagos as Nigeria’s industrial, commercial and financial
hub and it allows you to play with local street names and locations like
Tiamiyu Savage, Opebi, Ikorodu road and Marina. Some of the most
recognizable landmarks in Lagos like Iddo Terminus and the City Hall are
also included. It’s a great opportunity for Nigerians in the Diaspora
to learn about Lagos and Lagos life, whilst also identifying with some
of the Nigeria’s iconic corporate brands that are an integral part of
daily life. You will learn about Lagos in an enjoyable way.
Several features highlight the rich
diversity and offerings of Lagos. With an exciting mix of traditional
buildings and modern edifices like the City Hall, Palms shopping mall
and , even the infamous Kirikiri jail – you don’t want to go there.
As in the classic Monopoly game, the
rules of the City of Lagos edition are not different. Value of property
cards are the same as the corresponding property. The four-corner
squares remain unchanged, as does the road to victory; whoever is left
when all the other players have gone bankrupt wins the game.
Perhaps the Chance cards hold the thrill, with interesting features like, ‘for using the overhead pedestrian bridge on ikorodu road, move forward three spaces’
or paying a fine for attempting to bribe a law enforcement agent.
Riding an Okada without helmet or driving against traffic means you will
be reporting at ‘Yaba left’
for psychiatric evaluation. If your sister just won the most beautiful
girl in Nigeria contest, you can collect money on her behalf and can
even get rewarded for calling 767, which is the Lagos version of 911.
